LASSA assisted YASA in launching the “Driver Education Questions and Answers Guide”

with a special section related to Bus Driver

The Lebanese Association for School Safety Awareness- “LASSA” stresses the importance of school safety among all concerned parties (parent committees, school administrations, bus drivers…).

LASSA has actively participated in publishing the “Driver Education Questions and Answers Guide” especially with a special section related to Bus Driver which contain 135 questions and answers about civic and school bus drivers to help spread safe driving knowledge.

This guide aims to improve the theoretical driving education for new drivers by giving them a boost in their journey towards learning safe driving techniques, and to reinforce the knowledge of old drivers. The guide contains 400 different questions with multiple choice answers for each.  They were created and grouped in separate chapters to match all types of vehicles: heavy, medium and light vehicles. For each question there is only one correct answer based on defensive driving techniques such as: observation, communication, consideration, coordination, navigation and courteous driving. The key for the correct answers are found at the end of each chapter. The driver is expected to search for the correct answers by following a comparison procedure. LASSA believes that this method helps the bus driver improve his knowledge by realizing the wrong and right driving habits and techniques.

Moreover, this guide can be used by companies as an evaluation test for their current and prospective drivers, as well as for any type of competition that covers traffic safety. The “Driver Education Questions and Answers Guide” and the “Driver Guide” are awarded for drivers who participate in the Driver Improvement Program (DIP) conducted by LASSA and YASA.  As part of the continuous cooperation, YASA has donated thousands of both guides to the Lebanese Army and the Internal Security Forces.

“LASSA” found this Guide a very important tool for the whole community, especially for schools. We strongly recommend that all bus drivers got a better driver education, and hopefully this guide will have an important role in promoting safety on our roads.

LASSA hopes that this guide that has been published in three languages (Arabic, English and French), will have a positive impact on the theoretical part of driver testing and licensing curriculum in Lebanon as well as in the Arab world.  It also hopes to help improve road safety.
